We were made aware that a local Boy Scout troop who has picked up Christmas trees in years past in our town will not be offering the service this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. We contacted the Town’s waste management provider, Republic Services, and they offered the following alternative.

Customers with compostable service may place tree segments, cut four feet in length or smaller, in the green cart with the lid shut.  The tree segments may also be bundled and placed outside of the cart (4’x2’ limit).  No tinsel or artificial snow.  If customers have additional organics in the weeks after the holiday they are encouraged to bag the items in Kraft type paper bags, 32 gallon lidded can (65 lb. limit), or bundles tied with twine (4′ x 2′ limit). Please, NO food scraps outside of cart. Label items as “yard waste” and place next to organics cart.
