Dear Yarrow Point Residents,

The growing season is here and the Points Fourth of July parade is around the corner.

Right of Way (ROW) Maintenance

The Town takes right of way maintenance very seriously and we please ask that you or your landscapers take your adjacent ROW under your wing as you maintain your yard. We have noticed many properties in town that have unmaintained right of ways and the Town’s Public Works crew does not have the capacity to maintain the ROW in front of every property. Based on the info below, please take a look around your property and see if your ROW meets the following required maintenance.

Examples of Required Right of Way Maintenance:

  • Parking strip of unmowed lawn or weeds;
  • Tree branches or foliage lower than 14-feet measured vertically overhanging a lane way;
  • Tree branches or foliage growing into a sidewalk; and
  • Tree branches or foliage blocking the view of a traffic sign.

Overgrown branches and foliage can cause issues for garbage and delivery trucks not being able to provide service, creating blind spots for drivers and for pedestrians. **Please inform your gardeners or landscapers of these requirements. **

Instructions for Right of Way Maintenance

The pavement corridor is considered to be from one edge of pavement to the opposite edge of pavement horizontally and 14 feet vertically. See attached graphic.

Please trim back vegetation 1-foot behind the edge of the pavement and 14-feet up vertically. We will have another spectacular 4th of July Parade and Celebration very soon and we will need to provide passage for pedestrians to navigate safely!

For more information, please contact Austen Wilcox at Town Hall 425-454-6994 or ask Istvan Lovas, Public Works Director, when you see him out and about in the neighborhood. Thank you!

Maintenance on Private Property

We ask that you (also) please maintain your yards. Town Hall has been receiving complaints about properties that have lots of nuisance-level spring overgrowth during our intense growing season. Please be a courteous neighbor and and maintain the foliage, grass, weeds in your yards. Thank you!
