The Community

The Town of Yarrow Point incorporated in 1959, operates under a Mayor-Council form of government, with five Councilmembers. The Town is located on the eastern end of the SR520 bridge from Seattle and is bordered on three sides by eastern Lake Washington. Our neighboring communities include Hunts Point, Clyde Hill, Medina and Kirkland. The Town includes about 450 homes housing a population of 1135 residents per the latest census. The Town provides street maintenance/improvements, parks, beach, playground, nature preserve, building permits and inspections, and general administrative services. Through interlocal agreements, the Town also provides:

  • Police services through the City of Clyde Hill
  • Fire and emergency services, as well as water and sewer services through the City of Bellevue
  • Marine patrol services through the City of Mercer Island.
Clerk functions for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Assisting the Mayor with day-to-day operations of the Town, including supervision of staff and responding to various needs of the Town residents.
  • Essential functions include help with preparation of the Council agenda packets, attendance at Council meetings, preparation of Council minutes, and preparation of resolutions and ordinances
  • Serve as Public Records Officer, Emergency Management Director, and serve as alternate delegate for Washington Cities Insurance Authority.
Treasurer functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Budget preparation, budget amendments, review and compliance with approved budget
  • Preparation of quarterly financial reports for Council review
  • Perform monthly accounts payable
  • Reconcile Town bank accounts
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of LGIP revenues and interest
  • Prepare annual report and prepare for and participate in the biennial audit process with the State Auditor.

This position also serves as backup for the Deputy Clerk in their absence.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with elected officials, members of staff and the public
  • Ability to plan, develop, and maintain complex administrative projects
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new software as needed
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Experience in Washington State Auditor’s Budgeting, Accounting, and Reporting System (BARS) Cash Basis desirable
  • Notary Public commission or ability to obtain is preferred
Education and Experience Preferred:
  • Possess an associate’s degree and minimum of three years of accounting and finance experience in the public sector, or any combination of education and experience that would provide the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job.
  • Prior municipal clerk-treasurer experience preferred.
Salary Range & Benefits:

The annual salary range is $120,629 – $161,419. This position is exempt and placement within the range will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. An excellent benefit package provides Town paid medical, dental, and vision coverage. Also provided are vacation and sick leave, eleven holidays per year, Washington State Public Employees Retirement System, and deferred compensation program. Limited telework possible.
